contact_confirmation.htm:
The contact_confirmation.htm page works in
conjunction with the contact.htm page. When a user enters
information into a form field, that information is mirrored
on the contact_confirmation.htm page.
Once the user completes the form, and clicks on submit, a
few of things are going to happen.
The form information will be emailed to the specified email
address
The form page will auto forward to the
contact_confirmation.htm page
The information the visitor entered on the form page will be
displayed for confirmation on the contact_confirmation.htm
page
There is a bit of a downside to this. By the time your
visitor has reached the contact_confirmation.htm page, their
information has already been sent to you, via email. If they
DO notice any information that needs correcting, they would
be required to fill out the form again, creating a second
email being sent to you. It’s not the IDEAL set up, but we
include the contact_confirmation.htm page for one main
reason:
Professional approach
Do you really need the confirmation page? The answer to that
question is No. A user does not really need to see what
they’ve entered, and most folks would hopefully check for
type-O’s, or misspellings before they submit their form
information on the contact page. The confirmation page adds
a touch of professionalism to their experience on your web
site. Most well developed web sites, use some sort of
confirmation when a form has been filled out. Most of these
web sites use more elaborate database set ups, requiring a
programmer to set up and maintain this part of the web site.
As this is a cost that would far exceed the cost of a
template, we’ve provided a simple solution that will in most
cases provide the professional touch you would normally find
on an expensive web server solution.
The contact.htm page is set up by default to go to the
contact_confirmation.htm page when a users click on the
submit button of the form page.
HOWEVER: the video instructions include a step by step guide
on how to change the ‘destination’ of the confirmation page.
In other words, if you want your visitors to return to a
specific page on your web site other than the
contact_confirmation.htm page, (for example the catalog.htm
page, or your index.htm page) we’ll show you how to do this
as well.
